Objectified on Tinkercad

"There's a story embedded into every object, every decision was made at some point about something." - Andrew Blauvelt I really had no idea on what object I should do create; until this PCS 4 Braun record player, designed by Dieter Rams & Gerd Alfred Müller, came out during the film "Objectified" and it just clicked with me. "...The concept of wearing in, rather than wearing out. You would like to create something where the emotional relationship is more satisfying over time." -  Bill Moggridge  I never grew up using record players, but music had influenced my childhood and I used a fair bit of mp3 players to iPods. But with the fast pace of technological advances towards data, the need for portability, and the revolution to digitize. I never had the chance to settle with an object. Especially with nowadays where your playing functions are more done by touch, I feel I lost that emotional relationship with the object I am interacti...

The Grind, The Hell Layer, The Breakthrough

-
Image
I am a little behind on the blog post yet again, but hopefully I'll be able to go through what I have encountered in the past 2 weeks of nonstop grinding, rendering the hell layer, and the breakthrough. The Grind. So, in terms of work flow, I measure everything out by hand and keep them on a piece of paper as like notes and references to look at as I'm rendering each components. Also by doing this, it's reducing time measuring each hole or component again for the later parts. Though it's easy to measure each side of it, there was one particular part that was an anomaly, thus it took an extra amount of time than usual. And here is the piece that caused the most troubles and the most amount of time rendering to accuracy. The Hell Layer. I present you a piece from the hell layer. Why do you ask the name of it? Well, This section of the camera literally consists of springs, gears, and weird organic shapes that a...

Progress of a Paper Film Camera

-
Image
After doing a couple of prototypes for my film camera. I have noticed that I had issues with warping with the paper because most of the weight went towards the front. So I decided to make this camera using a cross-section technique, and picked out some colours and began my journey of assembling this camera. However, I haven't quite finished the camera completely so I shall show you what I have done so far. 20 pages of cardstock went towards the body of the camera. Later on I cut all the cross section via hand. Then stacked them and put a shell over on top. This was done for the rest of the camera. Which I forgot to take a picture of the inside of the camera and the other details. Currently the lens is a work in progress, however, it shows quite a lot on the amount of paper used to cross section an entire lens. As of right now, The lens used about 20 pages of cardstock. Also I figured out a locking mechanism for the lens and made a couple of minor ad...
